The USO works with Stronger Families to bring OXYGEN for Your Relationship Seminars to military couples to help them strengthen their relationships while working on tough issues in a fun, non-threatening environment. Couples learn to improve their communication, better understand each other’s needs, resolve conflict, rekindle romance and find renewed hope. In 2019, more than 6,000 service members and family members utilized relationship-strengthening resources through the USO’s offering of OXYGEN Seminars and Taste of OXYGEN events.

“Many of these couples – because of deployment and relocation – are essentially doing it alone,” said Stronger Families Executive Director Noel Meador. “Through our partnership with the USO, we are honored to be there for them in providing that roadmap they desperately need to transform and strengthen their relationship.”

Stronger Families’ mission is to help military couples be successful in their relationships, both for the couple and for the entire family.

“Some of the specific goals we have for them is that they’re going to have a clear action plan and a support system by the time they leave [the seminar].”

The program is offered through several learning platforms:

- OXYGEN Seminars: A one to two day program with eight-hour seminars that are customized to the attendees’ relationship needs as determined through a pre-assessment questionnaire

- Taste of OXYGEN Events: A 60-90-minute presentation on relationship strengthening topics selected by the installation hosting the event.

- Free Online Resources: The USO and Stronger Families are also proud to offer all active-duty military members and their spouses free premium access to online resources at oxygen365.com/uso, a website designed for couples who are unable to personally attend the live events. The site offers a customized growth plan for couples – such as access to relationship expertise through video podcasts covering topics such as communication, conflict resolution, intimacy, finances and issues related to deployment and reintegration.
