Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana–For every missile field tour, airmen flock to [remote facilities] to successfully and securely conduct operations. But being on duty for several days at a time at a secluded facility in central Montana does have its challenges.

[Thankfully], a solution recently presented itself to the 12th Missile Squadron, who took advantage of the opportunity.

[On May 8, 2019,] a nonprofit, [the USO], visited Airmen [with its USO Mobile Center] and provided them with an opportunity to relax, hang out with each other…[and enjoy] entertainment like movies and video games, free Wi-Fi, a lounge, external entertainment and outdoor games.

[Thanks to the USO], missileers, security forces members, missile maintainers, missile chefs and other personnel located out at MAFs…got to experience an evening of fun.

“This organization brought everyone together,” said Staff Sgt. Justin Curtin.

“It gave us something to entertain ourselves [with during our down time] and mingle with others out here. We bonded and had fun.”

The airmen in the field split into shifts between being on duty and participating in [the USO-sponsored] festivities.

“Bringing this event out here to us was a huge morale boost for us,” Curtin said.

“It shows we’re appreciated and cared for with what we do. We’re shown that we’re not unnoticed and it’s going far.”
